Trees for Tomorrow

Giving the gift of growth

Friendship Trees * Celebration Trees * Sympathy Trees
* Trees as Carbon Offsets *

Planting trees is a great gift idea. Ideal for birthdays, naming ceremonies and memorials, trees affirm the various seasons of life. For milestone birthdays and anniversaries, if asked for gift ideas, why not invite your friends to plant trees in your name?

For R200.00 we will plant your Gift Tree and send a forest greeting card with a personalized message informing your chosen recipient of the tree planted for them. If you prefer to write your own message, a blank card will be sent to your specified address. Click here to open the form to sponsor a tree at Platbos.

Trees cost R150.00. The forest greeting card (optional) costs R50.00 (including postage).

Planting trees is one way to offset your carbon footprint. During its lifetime, one tree will absorb and store between one to three tonnes of carbon dioxide. Current research suggests that natural, ecologically diverse forest systems are more effective as carbon sinks than monoculture forest plantations. Read more about how you can reduce your carbon footprint on our global warming and climate change page.
Trees cost R150.00 each. This includes an e-certificate with your name, tree planting record and the approximate carbon offset value.

Whether it's planting a tree in honour of someone special, or sponsoring tree planting to offset your carbon footprint, your trees assist us in realizing our aim to conserve and rehabilitate this unique forest.

Thank you for supporting Platbos Forest.

All tree planting takes place during our Reforest Fests in March each year. If you would like to physically plant a tree yourself, please take part in one of these Reforest Fest Weekends as, unfortunately, we do not offer individual tree planting sessions outside of these dates in March.

When visiting Platbos and you would like to see the areas where the trees have been planted, please consult the map and trail routes that lead to the Reforestation Areas.

Recycle • Reduce • Re-use and Reforest!

"For in the true nature of things...every green tree is more glorious than if it were made of gold and silver" - Martin Luther King.

"The tree which moves some to tears of joy is in the eyes of others only a green thing that stands in the way. Some see Nature all ridicule and deformity, and some scarce see Nature at all. But to the eyes of the man of imagination, Nature is Imagination itself." - William Blake, 1799, The Letters.

"I frequently tramped eight or ten miles through the deepest snow to keep an appointment with a beech tree, or a yellow birch, or an old acquaintance among the pines." - Henry David Thoreau 1817 - 1862.

"Trees are poems that earth writes upon the sky, we fell them down and turn them into paper, that we may record our emptiness." - Kahlil Gibran.

"Trees outstrip most people in the extent and depth of their work for the public good." - Sara Ebenreck.

"He that planteth a tree is a servant of God, he provideth a kindness for many generations, and faces that he hath not seen shall bless him." - Henry Van Dyke.

By planting trees and adopting sustainable living practices, you make the difference!
